Our History
Our Founder
Jeff Thelen

Jeff was raised in the Dakota County area with a large family. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs Jeff was opening up his first shop in 1968. It was not a shop of wood and saws, but a music shop in Farmington. In 1973 Jeff was on to bigger and better things and this is where he went to Vocational school in Northfield with a couple of his good friends. From there Jeff learned the craft of carpentry and began making furniture for friends and relatives. In 1980 Jeff moved out of grandpas plumbing warehouse and into his first place of his own. 308 Elm Street located in downtown Farmington. In April of 91 Jeff built our current building and underwent a dramatic addition in 1993. Today Jeff is showing the way to his eldest son Chad who will bring Thelen Cabinet Co. into the future. Jeff is the president of the Farmington chapter Lions club, an active member of the Farmington area Enhancement Group which is responsible for the annual Dew Days festival, among other citywide activities.

Chad Thelen

Chad didn’t fall far from the tree. From an early age Chads creativity and curiosity led him into dad’s shop on weekends. Chad started as a helper for the carpenters in his teens and full time immediately after high school. Today Chad attends College for Business Management and Administration, has served on the Farmington Fire Department since 2006 and is a member of the Minnesota National Guard 2-135 Inf. Bt. out of Mankato MN. Chad and Jeff enjoy their summers spending time at the family’s cabin fishing, boating and tinkering with projects. They are always happy to exchange fishing stories, so come, kick back and have a seat in the office.
