Established in 1977, Thelen Cabinet Company is a family owned company who designs and builds cabinets for homeowners and builders. Our top level service and outstanding attention to the finest detail means your project is in great hands. We source lumber from local mills, milled and dried to our highest standard, hardware from the leaders in the industry and utilize the most reliable, time tested finishes available.

From humble beginnings:

     Jeff Thelen opened his first shop in 1968, not a shop of wood and saws but a music shop in Farmington MN. In 1973 Jeff was onto other things where he went to Vocational school in Northfield MN to learn the craft of fine carpentry and began making furniture for friends and relatives. By 1977 Thelen Cabinet Company was incorporated and Jeff moved out of the Thelen families plumbing shop and into his very own building in downtown Farmington MN. In April of 1991 Thelen Cabinet Company broke ground as the first commercial facility in the now Farmington Industrial Park and underwent a dramatic addition in 1993. Growing throughout the 90’s and 00’s Thelen Cabinet Company became an icon in the south metro for custom cabinetry for both homeowners and residential builders and remodelers. In 2001 Thelen Cabinet Company was the first shop in Dakota County to incorporate CNC nesting equipment into the production of custom cabinetry.

    Jeff's son Chad has been involved in the family business from a young age. He went to school for administration and in the fall of 2016, after working in the family business for over 14 years, Chad Thelen took over operations of Thelen Cabinet Company. While serving for 12 years on the Farmington Fire Department and 6 years in the Minnesota National Guard, Chad is now the President and Owner of Thelen Cabinet Company bringing us into over 46 years in business and serving Minnesota.
